Functions of the Electroscalpel for Cosmetology

electricbisturi_02.jpg

Cosmetology studies the necessary tools and techniques through which care and improvement of the skin in different parts of the body can be carried out, this being a branch of dermatology. Cosmetologists must therefore manage the basics to be able to apply and provide users with plans for skin care and prevention of skin damage. Cosmetologists can work with dermatologists as dermatological assistants, as well as work in cosmetic care centers.

On the other hand, the electroscalpel is a medical equipment whose foundation is the transformation of the electrical energy that enters the equipment, in heat, in order to coagulate and remove soft tissue that is necessary to remove the patient. It is a completely safe device, however, it must be employed by trained medical personnel. In the area of beauty, it is used to remove warts and moles.

Electroscalpel

The electric scalpel is a medical equipment that uses electrical energy and transforms it into heat, in order to coagulate and cut tissues, following a set of parameters already established, to avoid causing any damage to the patient. This equipment manages to produce heat, by passing an oscillating electric current that is concentrated in a small area. The smaller the space through which electrical energy flows, the higher the temperature the scalpel reaches.

An electroscalpel is made up of small individual units that together form an electrical circuit. Current flows from the generator to the active electrode and then through the tissue. Because this equipment removes tissue through heat, it is not free of accidents and complications. The electrical burn is the greatest danger, since this is usually deep and causes necrosis and thrombosis, which often requires surgical intervention, for this reason it is essential that only authorized and knowledgeable personnel handle this equipment.

Basis of the electroscalpel

First, the electrical current is transformed into direct current by an internal power source. This part is responsible for sending power to all other modules. The RF oscillator module then creates a carrier wave, while the coagulation oscillator creates a modulating signal. The two are mixed in the modulator, later they are enlarged, to go out to the electrosurgical pencil, through the monopolar intake, or to the clotting clamp, through the bipolar intake.

According to the operating rules of these equipment, they must warn, through acoustic and light signals, when the electrodes are activated, in order to warn operators and avoid accidents. They must also have an emission disconnection circuit, in cases where the neutral plate is disconnected, this prevents burns.

Electroscalpel in dermatological cosmetology

The electroscalpel is a device through which electrical energy is applied to the skin, can be monopolar or bipolar type. With its use, different effects on the skin can be achieved, depending on how it is used and the energy that is deposited. With the electroscalpel you can perform treatment to the skin to improve its aesthetic, thanks to its use you can remove lesions such as ruby points, moles, warts or angiomas. Below are some of their forms of action:

  • Cut: with the necessary tip and energy, easily cut tissues without creating necrosis around.
  • Electrodesiccation: this mode of use is useful for the elimination of superficial lesions, since it produces a slight carbonization of the skin tissue.
  • Electrocoagulation: clotting of bleeding blood vessels during surgical procedures.
  • Furgulation: carbonizes the tissue superficial, without coming into direct contact with the skin.
