PCR is a common molecular biology procedure in which the scientist or lab technician amplify a single copy or a few copies of a segment DNA or RNA across several orders of magnitude. This technique is capable of generating millions of copies of a particular DNA or RNA sequence. Most PCR methods depend on thermal cycling a procedure that exposes the reactants to cycles of repeated heating and cooling, allowing different temperature-dependent reactions, creating multiple sequences.
